Key findings

  • SpendNode observed $86.06 million of crypto card spending across 11 mapped programs in the seven days through October 4, up 0.43% from the immediately preceding UTC week.
  • Six programs grew and five declined. Ether.fi added $4.12 million, nearly offsetting KAST's $4.43 million decline by itself.
  • Ether.fi returned to first place at $33.10 million, up 14.2%, while KAST remained second at $27.16 million.
  • Plasma One recorded 153,230 settlement events and 20,923 active wallets even as volume declined 1.9% to $6.70 million.
  • Optimism supplied 38.6% of observed spending, followed by Solana at 32.3%.

The weekly close

Observed spending reached $86,063,115 between September 28 at 00:00 UTC and October 5 at 00:00 UTC. The comparison uses the same 11 programs and measurement rules as the September 27 close, so the 0.43% increase does not reflect a coverage change.

Six programs added a combined $5.21 million. Ether.fi supplied $4.12 million, Wirex One added $577,840, Tria added $301,353, and XPlace added $94,405. Jupiter and MetaMask supplied the remaining increase.

Five programs declined by a combined $4.84 million. KAST accounted for $4.43 million of that reduction, followed by Avici, Plasma One, Gnosis Pay, and Peanut.

Multiplying this week's observed total across 52 weeks gives about $4.48 billion. That figure shows the scale of the measured set; it is not a forecast or an estimate of the entire crypto-card market.

Measured crypto card spending was nearly flat in the week through October 4 as ether.fi's increase offset most of KAST's decline.

Ether.fi returned to first place

Ether.fi rose 14.2% to $33.10 million, the fastest increase among programs above $1 million. Observed spend events increased 8.2% to 407,644, while average observed value per event rose from $76.90 to $81.21.

KAST declined 14.0% to $27.16 million but remained the second-largest program. Its seven issuer batches comprised six Solana batches worth $22.94 million and one Base batch worth $4.22 million. One week earlier, five batches landed on Solana and two on Ethereum.

KAST's batch count is not a purchase count, and the routing change moved millions between the chain columns. Ether.fi and KAST still represented $60.26 million, or 70.0% of observed spending.

Wirex and Tria extended their gains

Wirex One grew 9.6% to $6.57 million, with card-debit events rising 5.7% to 107,946 and active wallets increasing 9.0% to 11,076. Average observed value per event rose from $58.68 to $60.85. No unsupported currency codes appeared in either comparison week.

Tria increased 5.9% to $5.44 million across its current four-chain settlement lane and the still-active legacy Base route. Deduplicated events increased 0.9% to 59,060 and active wallets rose 0.8% to 21,223, while observed value per event increased from $87.80 to $92.14.

Jupiter grew 4.5% to $1.89 million with nearly unchanged event and wallet counts. MetaMask rose 4.0% to $785,058 across its observed Base, Linea, and Solana deployments. Forty-eight MetaMask Base entries involving unsupported EURC were excluded rather than assigned an assumed rate.

More Plasma One and XPlace events carried less value

Plasma One volume declined 1.9% to $6.70 million, but observed settlement events increased from 36,674 to 153,230 and active wallets from 12,019 to 20,923. Average observed value per event fell from $186.27 to $43.73.

XPlace moved in a similar direction. Volume increased 4.3% to $2.28 million, while events rose from 21,764 to 49,136 and active wallets from 1,578 to 7,497. Average observed value per event fell from $100.29 to $46.34.

The simultaneous expansion in events and wallets is measurable, but the onchain data cannot determine whether it reflects more cardholders, smaller purchases, settlement timing, batching changes, or another operational factor. The report therefore does not treat those counts as proof of customer acquisition.

Gnosis Pay declined 5.8% to $1.63 million. Avici fell 26.1% to $499,897, with the observed current-program value settling entirely on Solana during this window. Peanut recorded no accepted Arbitrum settlements for the week.

KAST routing moved value from Ethereum to Base

Optimism was the largest settlement chain at $33.26 million, or 38.6% of observed spending. Solana followed at $27.80 million, or 32.3%. Plasma and Arc represented 7.8% and 7.6%.

Base increased to $5.92 million and 6.9% of the measured total, largely because one KAST batch worth $4.22 million landed there. Ethereum fell from $8.21 million to zero after KAST's two Ethereum batches in the preceding week were replaced by the Base batch.

The chain table records where mapped value settled onchain. It is not blockchain market share for all crypto cards, and issuer-batch routing can move its columns without an equivalent change in purchases.

Measurement notes

This report covers a closed seven-day UTC period. It combines purchase-level wallet debits, card-settlement events, and issuer settlement batches only where each program's public methodology labels the basis. Event counts are compared within programs and are not treated as interchangeable across different settlement designs.

Later offchain refunds and chargebacks may not return through the same onchain route, so several series are gross rather than net. KAST's seven transactions are issuer settlement batches, not seven card purchases. MetaMask's identified Monad rail and Avici's unidentified retired route remain outside coverage.

The preceding week and this report are frozen snapshots. Their downloadable CSV, JSON, and chart files keep stable URLs. If stronger evidence changes a published result, SpendNode will label and date the correction rather than silently rewriting the weekly close.
