Key findings
- SpendNode observed $85.69 million of crypto card spending across 11 mapped programs in the seven days through September 27, up 8.21% from the immediately preceding UTC week.
- Six programs grew and five declined. KAST supplied $6.07 million of the measured set's $6.50 million net increase.
- KAST rose 23.8% to $31.59 million across seven issuer settlement batches. Those batches are not individual card purchases.
- Ether.fi and KAST represented $60.57 million, or 70.7% of observed spending.
- Optimism remained the largest settlement chain at 34.0% of the measured total, followed by Solana at 32.9%.
The weekly close
Observed spending reached $85,693,592 between September 21 at 00:00 UTC and September 28 at 00:00 UTC. The comparison uses the same 11 programs and measurement rules as the previous close, so the 8.21% increase does not reflect a coverage change.
Six programs added a combined $7.27 million. KAST accounted for $6.07 million of that increase, while Plasma One added $600,045. Wirex One, ether.fi, Jupiter, and Tria supplied the remainder.
Five programs declined by a combined $765,229. XPlace recorded the largest reduction at $437,221, followed by Avici at $267,882. MetaMask, Peanut, and Gnosis Pay also declined.
Multiplying this week's observed total across 52 weeks gives about $4.46 billion. That figure shows the scale of the measured set; it is not a forecast or an estimate of the entire crypto-card market.
Measured crypto card spending increased 8.2% in the week through September 27, with KAST accounting for most of the net change.
KAST batches drove the increase
KAST reached $31.59 million, up 23.8% from $25.52 million. The program again settled through seven issuer batches, but their value and routing changed: five batches worth $23.38 million landed on Solana and two worth $8.21 million landed on Ethereum.
The preceding week used six Solana batches and one Ethereum batch. A stable batch count does not imply stable card activity because each batch can aggregate a different amount of underlying spending. The chain data does not expose the number of card purchases or active cardholders inside those batches.
KAST moved ahead of ether.fi for first place in this weekly close. The two programs together represented 70.7% of observed spending, up from 68.6% one week earlier.
Growth below the two largest programs
Plasma One rose 9.6% to $6.83 million. Observed settlement events increased 13.2% to 36,674, while active wallets increased 4.7% to 12,019. Average observed value per event declined from $192.42 to $186.27.
Wirex One grew 4.5% to $5.99 million. Card-debit events increased to 102,081 and active wallets to 10,161, while average observed value per event stayed close to $59. No unsupported currency codes appeared in this weekly interval.
Ether.fi increased 0.6% to $28.98 million as observed spend events rose 1.4% to 376,833. Tria grew 1.5% to $5.14 million, and Jupiter increased 4.5% to $1.81 million.
XPlace and Avici declined
XPlace volume fell 16.7% to $2.18 million even as observed events increased 5.8% and active wallets rose 8.0% to 1,578. Average observed value per event fell from $127.41 to $100.29, while observed spending per active wallet declined from about $1,793 to $1,383.
Avici declined 28.4% to $676,137 across its observed current-program routes. Solana contributed $595,811, with another $80,326 across five EVM chains. The result excludes an unidentified retired route and is not total company-wide card volume.
MetaMask declined 3.5% to $754,849. Peanut recorded $2,930 across 47 settlements, down from $22,371, and Gnosis Pay eased 0.7% to $1.73 million.
These changes establish what moved on the mapped settlement rails. They do not identify changes in cardholder intent, rewards, or merchant mix.
KAST routing lifted Ethereum's share
Optimism remained the largest settlement chain at $29.15 million, or 34.0% of observed spending. Solana followed at $28.17 million, or 32.9%.
Ethereum rose to $8.21 million and 9.6% of the measured total because two KAST batches landed there. The preceding week recorded one KAST batch worth $3.33 million on Ethereum. Total KAST volume rose by $6.07 million, but the movement between chain columns still reflects batch routing as well as underlying value.
The chain table records where mapped value settled onchain. It is not blockchain market share for all crypto cards, and issuer-batch routing can move its columns without an equivalent change in purchases.
Measurement notes
This report covers a closed seven-day UTC period. It combines purchase-level wallet debits, card-settlement events, and issuer settlement batches only where each program's public methodology labels the basis. Event counts are compared within programs and are not treated as interchangeable across different settlement designs.
Later offchain refunds and chargebacks may not return through the same onchain route, so several series are gross rather than net. KAST's seven transactions are issuer settlement batches, not seven card purchases. MetaMask's identified Monad rail and Avici's unidentified retired route remain outside coverage.
The preceding week and this report are frozen snapshots. Their downloadable CSV, JSON, and chart files keep stable URLs. If stronger evidence changes a published result, SpendNode will label and date the correction rather than silently rewriting the weekly close.
