SpendNode Rating for KAST

3.8/5
Known for: global stablecoin card access

KAST scores well because it keeps showing up in real product conversations, not just in marketing. The operator feels active, relevant, and increasingly credible.

Momentum and availability help a lot here. The issuer still gives points back on maturity and long-term certainty, but it no longer feels easy to dismiss as a thin rollout.

What Is KAST?

KAST is a custodial prepaid Visa card program offering 10 variants across 4 tiers (Standard, Premium, Limited, Luxe) with multiple design collections including KAST original, Solana, Bitcoin, and Pudgy Penguins (Pengu). All designs at the same tier share identical economics: same USD cashback rate, same caps, same fees, same KAST Points rate.

KAST restructured its rewards in May 2026, replacing the previous Season 5 points and 4% $MOVE cashback program with USD cashback as the primary reward stream. Standard earns 1.5% on first $2,000/mo, Premium 2% on first $10,000/mo, and Luxe 3% on first $50,000/mo. KAST Points layer on top for paid tiers (1% Premium, 2% Luxe). KAST also introduced Cash Bonus Rewards for some new users in eligible countries, with up to $250 in extra milestone bonuses layered on top of regular cashback. The Limited Founders Edition card was closed for new purchases at the same time; existing holders retain their card. KAST renamed Luxe to Private in May 2026; we use Luxe for consistency.

All cards support USDC, USDT, and USDe spending, have 0.5-1.75% FX fees on non-USD transactions, $3 flat plus 2% ATM fees, require 2-minute KYC via Sumsub, are issued by Third National, and are available in 170+ countries. KAST has a 4.5-star App Store rating from 10 reviews.

Among crypto card lineups, KAST operates the most extensive program: 10 distinct Visa variants spanning price points from $0 to $10,000/year. No other issuer offers this range of tiers, card designs, or reward structures under one platform. The design collection model means you pick your tier based on spending math, then choose the card art you prefer.

The Pengu cards are Pudgy Penguins-branded versions of KAST's Standard, Premium, and Luxe tiers with identical economics:

Transaction fees are identical across all tiers. Upgrading from Standard to Premium/Luxe does not reduce FX or ATM fees: it raises the cashback rate, raises the monthly cashback cap, adds the KAST Points secondary stream (Premium 1%, Luxe 2%), and on Luxe adds VIP Concierge and Visa Infinite network benefits.

Physical Card Costs by Tier

TierPhysical CardMembership Includes
Standard$40 shippingFirst 2 virtual cards free

For Premium and Luxe, additional cards beyond the membership allotment are arranged through KAST Concierge. Pricing is shared on request rather than published. Virtual + physical versions of the same Premium or Luxe card count as one slot toward the 10-card account maximum.

Rewards and Cashback

KAST replaced its previous rewards model in May 2026. The 4% $MOVE cashback program was retired entirely. Season 5 points and the "1 KAST Point = 1 KAST token at TGE" framing were dropped. The new structure puts USD cashback as the primary reward, with KAST Points as a smaller secondary stream on paid tiers.

USD Cashback (Primary Reward)

Cashback is paid in USD, accrues at the moment a transaction is authorized, and is held in your KAST Rewards Balance. There is a 14-day timelock before cashback becomes redeemable. After unlock, you must manually tap Redeem in the app. There is no auto-redemption. Redeemed cashback moves to a separate spendable sub-balance and is automatically applied to your next card purchase. It cannot be withdrawn to fiat or to an external wallet.

TierCashback RateMonthly Spend CapMax Monthly Cashback
Standard1.5%First $2,000/mo~$30
Premium2%First $10,000/mo~$200
Luxe3%First $50,000/mo$1,500
Solana Solid Gold (invite)3%First $30,000/mo$900

Above the cap, spending continues but earns no further cashback that month. Caps reset on the 1st of each calendar month. Cashback does not expire once earned. Refunds or chargebacks on cashback-earning transactions can claw back the related cashback (first from the Rewards Balance, then from the card spending balance if Rewards is empty).

New-User Cash Bonus Rewards

KAST now offers Cash Bonus Rewards for some new users in eligible countries. These are separate onboarding milestones, not a replacement for the regular 1.5% / 2% / 3% USD cashback rates above.

In full-program countries, the path can add up to $250 in bonus cash:

MilestoneRequirementBonus
1Spend $100Up to $20
2Spend another $500Up to $30
3Spend another $1,000$50
4Spend another $5,000$150

The full path requires $6,600 of tracked card spend. The first milestone starts automatically after KYC. Later milestones must be activated manually in the KAST app, and each activated milestone has a 7-day completion window. KAST has not published the eligible-country list, so check the Earn section inside your KAST app to see whether Cash Bonus Rewards are available for your account and what reward amounts apply in your country.

KAST Points (Secondary Stream)

KAST Points are an additional reward layer that stacks on top of USD cashback for paid tiers. They are earned uncapped on all eligible card spend.

TierKAST Points Rate (card spend)
StandardNone
Premium1%
Luxe2%

KAST has not published a token conversion ratio or TGE timeline post-May-2026. The previous "1 KAST Point = 1 KAST token at TGE" framing is no longer in KAST's official documentation. Treat KAST Points as a platform loyalty stream rather than a guaranteed future token.

SOL Staking Rewards

KAST pays additional KAST Points on staked SOL, credited approximately every two days at the end of each Solana epoch.

TierKAST Points per 1 SOL per Solana Epoch (~2 days)
Standard0.25
Premium0.5
Luxe0.5

Note: Premium and Luxe earn the same SOL staking rate. The previous tier where Luxe paid 1x and Premium paid 0.5x was retired in May 2026. SOL staking rewards are paid in KAST Points, not USD cashback.

FX Impact on Net Returns (Non-USD Spend)

KAST's official "net effect" on non-USD transactions, accounting for cashback + KAST Points minus FX fees:

TierCashback + Points GrossFX Fee RangeNet Effect
Standard1.5%0.5% - 1.75%-0.25% to +1%
Premium3% (2% + 1% Points)0.5% - 1.75%+1.25% to +2.5%
Luxe5% (3% + 2% Points)0.5% - 1.75%+3.25% to +4.5%

Standard tier non-USD spending can go negative at the 1.75% FX worst case (1.5% cashback minus 1.75% FX = -0.25%). For heavy non-USD spenders on Standard, the math may not pencil out without a 0% FX alternative as the primary card. Premium and Luxe stay net positive across the FX range.

Break-even (cashback covers annual fee): Premium needs ~$50,000/yr in spend to recoup the $1,000 fee from cashback alone (at the 2% rate, $1,000 / 2% = $50,000). Luxe needs ~$333,000/yr to recoup $10,000 from 3% cashback alone ($10,000 / 3% = $333,333). Both exceed the monthly caps if spend is concentrated, so paid tiers only work economically if you also value the membership benefits (free additional cards, KAST Points, Visa Infinite network features, VIP Concierge on Luxe). For pure cashback math, Standard at 1.5% with no fee is the most efficient tier under $2,000/mo spend.

Stablecoin-Only Spending

KAST takes a deliberately simple approach to card spending: USDC, USDT, and USDe only. You do not spend volatile crypto through the card. Stablecoin deposits are converted 1:1 at 0% spread. Non-stablecoin deposits (SOL, ETH, BTC, etc.) are auto-converted at 2-5% fee.

The spending flow:

  1. Complete KYC via Sumsub (takes approximately 2 minutes)
  2. Deposit USDC, USDT, or USDe to your KAST wallet (0% top-up fee)
  3. Activate your virtual card instantly (Apple Pay and Google Pay supported)
  4. Spend at any of 150M+ Visa merchants in 170+ countries
  5. On USD transactions: 0% card spend fee. On non-USD: 0.5-1.75% FX fee
  6. USD cashback accrues at authorization based on your tier and the monthly cap
  7. After the 14-day timelock, manually tap Redeem to apply cashback to your next card purchase

Virtual cards are issued instantly upon registration. Premium and Luxe physical cards are included in the membership; Standard tier physical cards are available for $40 shipping.

KAST also operates KAST Earn, a USD yield product separate from the card. Deposits into the USD Prime Vault are converted to USDKY (a 1:1 backed stablecoin powered by M0, held in a Privy wallet) and accrue variable APY tracking short-term US Treasury Bill yields. There is no lockup and no deposit/withdrawal fee. USDKY cannot be transferred externally. To move funds you withdraw back to your USD Spending Balance first.

Fiat Off-Ramp and Withdrawal Options

KAST offers a full set of withdrawal options beyond card spending:

Bank transfers (14 currencies): USD (ACH $2 / FedWire $15), EUR (1% FX), GBP ($3 + 1% FX), AED ($3 + 1% FX), JPY ($30 + 1% FX), SAR ($30 + 1% FX), INR ($2 + 1% FX), IDR ($2 + 1% FX), PHP ($2 + 1% FX), THB ($2 + 1% FX), NGN ($2 + 1% FX), MXN ($2 + 1% FX), AUD ($4 + 1% FX)

Stablecoin withdrawals (4 networks): Solana ($1 + 0.1%), Arbitrum ($0.20 + 0.1%), Ethereum ($6 + 0.1%), Tron ($5 + 0.1%). Minimum $5.

Local payment rails: PIX (BRL, 0.88% deposit / 1% payout), SPEI (MXN, 0.5% deposit / 1% payout)

Internal transfers: KAST Tag - free, instant, $10,000/day, 5 transfers/day

How to Apply for a KAST Crypto Card

KAST runs as a standalone stablecoin card app rather than an exchange or wallet add-on, and the lineup is unusually wide: ten Visa variants across the Standard, Premium, and Luxe tiers, in KAST, Solana, Bitcoin, and Pudgy Penguins designs. The tier sets the economics; the artwork is yours to choose. The path to spending:

KAST app card selection screen showing multiple Visa designs across tiers, including KAST, Solana, Bitcoin, and Pengu collections

SpendNode app screenshot

Tier first, then design - every card at the same tier shares the same cashback, caps, and fees.

  1. Download KAST and sign up. Install the app and register with an email or phone number. The card program covers 170+ countries.
  2. Pass KYC. Identity verification runs through Sumsub and usually takes about two minutes with a government ID and a selfie. Cards are issued by Third National once you clear.
  3. Choose your tier, then your card. Match the tier to your spending: Standard is free at 1.5% on the first $2,000/month, Premium earns 2% on the first $10,000/month, and Luxe earns 3% on the first $50,000/month. Then pick the design you like, since all cards at a tier are economically identical.
  4. Fund it with stablecoins. Top up your KAST balance in USDC, USDT, or USDe. The card spends from that balance and adds a 0.5-1.75% fee on non-USD purchases.
  5. Activate and tap to pay. Your virtual Visa is ready right away; add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay and spend worldwide. New users in eligible countries can also unlock up to $250 in milestone cash bonuses on top of regular cashback.

Note: The Pengu Card (Pudgy Penguins design) has identical economics to KAST Standard: same 1.5% USD cashback, same $2,000/mo cap, same fees.

KAST Standard vs ether.fi Core: ether.fi pays 3% USDC uncapped versus KAST Standard's 1.5% capped at $2,000/mo (~$30/mo cashback ceiling). For anyone spending more than $1,000/mo, ether.fi pays more in absolute dollars. ether.fi also wins on self-custody and 0% FX in supported countries. KAST wins on global availability (170+ countries vs ether.fi's US/UK/EEA), 2-minute onboarding, and Visa-network breadth. The May 2026 restructure narrowed KAST Standard's edge: at the old 4% $MOVE program KAST was the highest-yield free card by total reward potential, but the new 1.5% USD-only model brings it closer to mid-pack.

KAST Standard vs Crypto.com Blue: Crypto.com Midnight Blue has dropped to 0% rewards under its current program. KAST Standard's 1.5% USD cashback wins by default at the free tier. Crypto.com still wins on ecosystem breadth and established track record.

Who Should Use KAST?

Choose the right tier first:

  • Standard (free): K Card or Pengu Card. 1.5% USD cashback on the first $2,000/mo of spend (max ~$30/mo). Best for users who spend close to the $2,000 cap and want a free, globally available card. Above that monthly spend, the cap eats into the effective rate quickly.
  • Premium ($1,000/yr): X Card or Pengu Black. 2% USD cashback on the first $10,000/mo (max ~$200/mo) plus 1% KAST Points uncapped. To break even on the $1,000 fee from cashback alone you need ~$50,000/yr in spend hitting the cap (that's $4,167/mo). The metal Visa Infinite, free Standard physical card, and Visa Benefits Portal add value beyond pure cashback math.
  • Luxe ($10,000/yr): Solana Gold or Pengu Gold. 3% USD cashback on the first $50,000/mo (max $1,500/mo) plus 2% KAST Points uncapped. Pure cashback break-even is ~$333,000/yr. The 24K gold card, VIP Concierge, VIP events, and 2 free additional cards from any tier are the actual reasons to subscribe.
  • Limited (Founders Edition): Closed for new purchases as of May 2026. Existing holders retain their card.

Then choose your card design:

  • KAST original, Solana, Bitcoin Standard/Black/Gold, or Pudgy Penguins, all sharing identical economics at the same tier. Pick the art you like.

Key considerations for all KAST cards:

  • Cashback redemption is manual and constrained. 14-day timelock, manual "tap Redeem" in-app, applies to your next card purchase only. No fiat or wallet withdrawal. Plan for cashback to live inside KAST, not as a parallel external balance.
  • Monthly caps are hard. Spending above the cap continues but earns nothing extra in cashback that month. KAST Points (Premium/Luxe) keep accruing uncapped on all card spend.
  • FX fee: 0.5-1.75% on non-USD transactions. USD domestic spenders get the best economics. Standard-tier non-USD spenders can go net negative at the 1.75% worst case (1.5% cashback minus 1.75% FX). Premium and Luxe stay net positive across the FX range.
  • ATM fees: $3 flat + 2% makes ATM withdrawals expensive. Avoid ATM use or budget for the cost.
  • KYC required: 2-minute process via Sumsub. Not a no-KYC card.

Look elsewhere if:

  • You require self-custody: ether.fi (3% cashback, self-custodial) or MetaMask (1-3%, self-custodial)
  • You want 0% FX guaranteed: Bleap or Gnosis Pay
  • You spend well above $2,000/mo and want uncapped cashback: ether.fi Core (3% uncapped USDC) is more efficient than KAST Standard above the $2,000 cap
  • You need a credit card (not prepaid): Gemini (up to 4% crypto rewards)
  • You want an established platform with years of history: Crypto.com (7+ years)

Our take: After the May 2026 restructure, KAST is a clear, capped USD cashback program rather than a points-farming play. The free Standard tier is most useful for users who spend at or below the $2,000/mo cap, where it earns a solid 1.5% in USD with global Visa acceptance and 2-minute onboarding. Above the cap, free competitors with uncapped cashback (notably ether.fi Core at 3%) become more efficient. Premium and Luxe still make sense if you actively use the membership benefits (free metal/gold cards, KAST Points, Visa Infinite portal, VIP Concierge on Luxe), but the math no longer favors them on cashback alone.

Is KAST Safe?

  • Card issuer: Third National
  • Network: Visa, accepted at 150M+ merchants globally
  • KYC: Required via Sumsub (approximately 2 minutes)
  • Custody: Custodial (funds held on KAST platform)
  • Stablecoin-only: USDC, USDT, and USDe spending eliminates conversion risk
  • Operating history: 2+ years of card operations
  • Fiat off-ramp: 14 supported currencies for bank withdrawals

The Third National issuance provides banking regulatory oversight for the card program. Stablecoin-only spending means no volatile crypto liquidation at point of sale - the exact amount you see is the exact amount deducted.

Is KAST a Scam?

  1. KAST has been operating card services for 2+ years, issuing Visa cards through regulated infrastructure. The platform predates the current crypto card wave and has maintained continuous operations throughout.

  2. Cards are issued by Third National, a regulated banking institution that provides the Visa card issuance and banking oversight for the program.

  3. KYC is processed by Sumsub, a widely used identity verification provider (also used by Bybit, Jupiter, and other crypto platforms). The government ID + selfie verification takes approximately 2 minutes.

  4. KAST has a 4.5-star App Store rating from 10 reviews. The review count is small, reflecting KAST's niche positioning in crypto card markets rather than mainstream retail adoption.

  5. The Visa network provides standard transaction protections, including chargeback mechanisms and dispute resolution at 150M+ merchants globally.

  6. The Pudgy Penguins partnership (Pengu collection) is a legitimate co-branded collaboration with one of the most recognized NFT-born brands, which has physical retail presence at Walmart and Target (1.5M+ toys sold) and over 770,000 PENGU token holders.

What to be aware of

  • Custody is fully centralized. If KAST goes offline, deposited funds are at risk.
  • Cashback cannot be withdrawn to fiat or to an external wallet. It must be redeemed inside KAST and applied to your next card purchase. If KAST goes offline or restricts your account, accumulated cashback may be inaccessible.
  • Cashback is timelocked 14 days before redemption and can be clawed back if a transaction is later refunded or charged back. KAST will first remove the clawback from your Rewards Balance, then deduct the remainder from your card spending balance if the Rewards Balance is empty.
  • KAST has changed its rewards program multiple times. The May 2026 restructure replaced Season 5 points and 4% $MOVE cashback with USD cashback and KAST Points. KAST has not published a token conversion ratio for KAST Points post-May-2026. Treat them as platform loyalty, not a future token.
  • The 0.5-1.75% FX fee range is opaque. The exact rate depends on country pairs that are not fully published. Standard-tier non-USD spending can go net negative at the worst case.
  • The $0.50 declined-transaction fee is unusual in the market.
  • The 10-review App Store count is extremely small for assessing user satisfaction at scale.

Are KAST crypto cards available in the United States?

Yes. KAST crypto cards are available in the United States.

Which assets do KAST cards support for spending?

KAST cards support USDC, USDT, and USDe stablecoins. Non-stablecoin deposits are auto-converted to stablecoins at 2-5% (varies per token).

How fast is KYC and card access?

KAST says KYC takes less than two minutes and the virtual card is available instantly after sign-up.

How does USD cashback work on KAST?

Standard earns 1.5% USD cashback on the first $2,000 of monthly spend, Premium earns 2% on the first $10,000, and Luxe earns 3% on the first $50,000. Above the cap, spending continues but earns no further cashback that month. Caps reset on the 1st of each calendar month.

Cashback has a 14-day timelock before redemption, must be manually redeemed in-app, and is automatically applied to your next card purchase. It cannot be withdrawn to fiat or an external wallet. KAST renamed Luxe to Private in May 2026; we use Luxe for consistency.

Do KAST cards still pay $MOVE cashback?

No. KAST replaced the 4% $MOVE cashback program with USD cashback in May 2026. Existing $MOVE balances earned before the change remain in user accounts. New spend earns USD cashback only, at 1.5% Standard, 2% Premium, and 3% Luxe.

What are KAST Points and do they convert to a token?

KAST Points are an additional reward stream on Premium (1%) and Luxe (2%) tiers, on top of the USD cashback. Standard tier does not earn KAST Points. KAST has not published a token conversion ratio or TGE timeline post-May-2026. Treat KAST Points as a platform loyalty stream rather than a guaranteed future token.

What is the KAST Pengu Card?

The Pengu Cards are Pudgy Penguins-branded versions of KAST's Standard, Premium, and Luxe tiers. Pengu Card (1.5% USD cashback, free), Pengu Black Card (2% USD cashback + 1% KAST Points, $1,000/yr, metal), and Pengu Gold Card (3% USD cashback + 2% KAST Points, $10,000/yr, 24K gold). Same economics as regular KAST cards with Pudgy Penguins branding. Available in 170+ countries via Visa.

Is the KAST Card a credit card?

No. KAST cards are prepaid Visa cards, not credit cards. You load USDC or USDT and spend your own balance - there is no credit line, no APR, and no credit check. For crypto-backed credit card options, see our reviews of Gemini, ether.fi, Nexo, and Avici.

What are KAST's FX fees?

KAST charges 0.5-1.75% on non-USD transactions, depending on your country of residence and the transaction country. USD transactions have 0% card spend fee. There is also a $0.10 fee on non-USD transactions under $25, and a $0.50 fee for declined transactions.

What are KAST's ATM withdrawal fees and limits?

ATM withdrawals cost $3 flat plus 2% of the withdrawal amount (plus FX fee for non-USD ATMs). Maximum $250 per withdrawal, 3 withdrawals or $750 per 24 hours.

Does KAST have a promo code or discount?

Yes. The KAST promo code is 0NDAZU6Z. If you sign up through SpendNode's KAST link, that code is automatically applied and you save 10% on any paid KAST card: the X Card and Pengu Black Card drop from $1,000 to $900, and the Solana Gold Card and Pengu Gold Card drop from $10,000 to $9,000. Free tiers (K Card, Founders Edition, Pengu Card) are unaffected.

How do you choose KAST crypto cards?

We compare verified issuer sources, fees, and eligibility. Availability can change, so confirm with the issuer before applying.

Do all cards in this list offer the same benefits?

No. Each issuer defines its own program terms. Review the sources on each card profile.

Are these rankings or recommendations?

No. Lists are filtered views of cards in our database and do not imply rankings.
