KAST Pengu Cards Review (2026): Pudgy Penguins Standard, Black, and Gold
Review the full KAST Pengu lineup: the free Pengu Card, Pengu Black at $1,000 per year, and Pengu Gold at $10,000 per year. Compare rewards points, annual fees, Pudgy Penguins branding, and how each tier maps to KAST Standard, Premium, and Luxe.

SpendNode Rating for KAST Pengu Card
Pengu Card is still a KAST product first and a brand collaboration second. That is good. The card needs to work even after the novelty wears off.
Strip the Pengu branding off and you still have a free KAST stablecoin card that works. That is the right order of priority. The collaboration adds some personality to a product that already had decent economics. Scores track close to the K Card, which makes sense because the underlying product is almost identical.

What Are the KAST Pengu Cards?
The KAST Pengu Cards are a collection of three Pudgy Penguins-branded Visa cards that map directly onto KAST's Standard, Premium, and Luxe tier economics. After KAST's May 2026 rewards restructure, the Pengu Card offers 1.5% USD cashback on first $2,000/mo for free, the Pengu Black Card offers 2% USD cashback on first $10,000/mo plus 1% KAST Points uncapped at $1,000/year on a metal Visa Infinite, and the Pengu Gold Card offers 3% USD cashback on first $50,000/mo plus 2% KAST Points uncapped at $10,000/year on a 24K gold plated Visa Infinite with VIP Concierge.
All three share the same fees, caps, KAST Points rates, SOL staking, and infrastructure as their non-Pengu KAST counterparts. The difference is Pudgy Penguins branding and card design.
If you are deciding between a Pengu card and a regular KAST card at the same tier: pick the design you prefer. The economics are identical. If you are deciding which tier to get: ignore the branding entirely and choose based on your monthly spending.

Fees and Rates
The economics are identical to the matching KAST tier:
- Pengu Card earns 1.5% USD cashback on the first $2,000 of monthly card spend, same as the K Card
- Pengu Black Card earns 2% USD cashback on the first $10,000/mo plus 1% KAST Points uncapped at $1,000/yr, same as the X Card
- Pengu Gold Card earns 3% USD cashback on the first $50,000/mo plus 2% KAST Points uncapped at $10,000/yr, same as the Solana Gold Card
FX fees (0.5-1.75%), ATM fees ($3 + 2%), spending limits, supported assets (USDC, USDT, USDe), card issuer (Third National), KYC process, and every other operational detail is the same regardless of which card design you choose at a given tier.
Rewards on This Tier
Each Pengu card earns the same reward structure as the matching KAST tier:
| Pengu Card | USD Cashback | KAST Points (card spend) | SOL Staking (KAST Points per 1 SOL per epoch) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pengu (Standard) | 1.5% on first $2,000/mo | None | 0.25 |
| Pengu Black (Premium) | 2% on first $10,000/mo | 1% (uncapped) | 0.5 |
| Pengu Gold (Luxe) | 3% on first $50,000/mo | 2% (uncapped) | 0.5 |
USD cashback has a 14-day timelock from authorization, must be manually redeemed via "tap Redeem" in the KAST app, and is automatically applied to your next card purchase. It cannot be withdrawn to fiat or to an external wallet. KAST Points and SOL staking rewards have no published token conversion ratio post-May-2026. Treat them as platform loyalty rather than a guaranteed future token.
For detailed break-even analysis at each tier, see the individual product reviews: K Card, X Card, Solana Gold.
How This Tier Compares
The difference between Pengu cards and standard KAST cards is the card art and community identity. Each Pengu card features Pudgy Penguins artwork with the penguin mascot on the card face, replacing the standard KAST, Solana, or Bitcoin branding. The Pengu Black Card has a dark metallic finish with a silver penguin. The Pengu Gold Card has a 24K gold plated surface with a gold penguin design.
For Pudgy Penguins community members, PENGU token holders, or anyone who likes the aesthetic, the Pengu cards let you carry branded spending in your wallet. KAST does this across multiple partnerships. They also have Solana-branded, Bitcoin-branded, and their original KAST-branded designs at each tier.
Do not upgrade to a higher tier just because it has Pengu branding. A $10,000/year Pengu Gold Card is not worth it if your spending does not justify the Luxe tier. The same card with Solana, KAST, or Bitcoin branding costs the same and earns the same. Pick your tier based on spending math, then choose the card design you like at that tier.
Who Should Choose This Tier
Pengu Card (Standard, Free)
The free entry point for Pudgy Penguins fans who want branded daily spending. If you would choose the K Card anyway, the Pengu Card gives you the same 1.5% USD cashback on the first $2,000/mo with penguin art. No economic reason to choose one over the other. Pick the design you like.
Pengu Black Card (Premium, $1,000/yr)
For spenders who already justify the Premium tier economically and want Pudgy Penguins branding on a metal Visa Infinite. The pure-cashback break-even is around $4,167/mo of qualifying spend (2% × $50,000/yr = $1,000). Below that level, the upgrade is justified by KAST Points (1% uncapped on all card spend), the Visa Infinite Benefits Portal, the included free Standard physical card, and the metal card itself. If the math works for you and you prefer the Pengu Black design over the X Card design, choose this one.
Pengu Gold Card (Luxe, $10,000/yr)
The Luxe tier in Pudgy Penguins branding. Pure-cashback break-even is around $27,778/mo of qualifying spend (3% × $333,333/yr = $10,000). Below that level, the upgrade is justified by VIP Concierge with priority access to the KAST senior team, VIP event invitations, the 24K gold card, the included 1 free Gold Plated card plus 2 free physical cards from any other tier, the 2% KAST Points uncapped, and the Visa Infinite Benefits Portal. The economics match the Solana Gold Card exactly. Choose based on which gold card design you prefer.
Our view: Choose the Pengu version if you are a Pudgy Penguins community member, PENGU holder, or just like the penguin card design. The economics are identical either way. For detailed tier economics, break-even analysis, and KAST platform risk assessment, see the individual tier reviews: K Card (Standard), X Card (Premium), Solana Gold (Luxe), or the KAST vendor hub for the full lineup.
About Pudgy Penguins
Pudgy Penguins is one of the few NFT-born brands that crossed into mainstream retail. The 8,888-piece Ethereum collection launched in 2021. After the original founders were voted out, entrepreneur Luca Netz acquired the IP for 750 ETH in April 2022 and pivoted the brand into physical consumer products. Pudgy Toys expanded to over 3,100 Walmart stores plus Target and Walgreens, selling over 1.5 million plush toys. Each toy includes a QR code linking to Pudgy World, a digital experience for wallet creation and NFT wearables.
The PENGU token launched on Solana with an airdrop to over 6 million wallets and has a market cap of approximately $440 million as of March 2026. The KAST partnership brings this brand into everyday payments. Pudgy Penguins is currently facing a trademark lawsuit from PEI Licensing over apparel trademarks. The lawsuit targets clothing, not financial products.
What Changed Since Launch
The KAST Pengu Card collection has gone through two material restructures since its February 2026 launch:
February 2026: original announcement. KAST marketed the collection as a separate cashback product line offering 6%, 8%, and 12% guaranteed cashback at Standard, Premium, and Luxe.
March 2026: first restructure. The live product launched using the same rewards-points system as all other KAST cards (2% / 5% / 8%) rather than the originally marketed 6/8/12% cashback. Product names also changed: "Pengu Premium" became "Pengu Black Card" and "Pengu Luxe" became "Pengu Gold Card."
May 2026: second restructure (current). KAST replaced its rewards-points-plus-$MOVE-cashback model with USD cashback as the primary reward across the entire lineup. Pengu Standard moved from 2% rewards points to 1.5% USD cashback (capped at first $2,000/mo). Pengu Black moved from 5% rewards points to 2% USD cashback (capped at first $10,000/mo) plus 1% KAST Points uncapped. Pengu Luxe moved from 8% rewards points to 3% USD cashback (capped at first $50,000/mo) plus 2% KAST Points uncapped. The 4% $MOVE cashback program was retired entirely. The "1 KAST Point = 1 KAST token at TGE" framing was dropped. KAST Points have no published token conversion ratio post-May-2026.
