SpendNode Rating for KAST Solana Gold Card

3.6/5
Best for: top-end KAST users who want premium Solana branding

Solana Gold sits in the same premium zone as the other top KAST cards. The card is selling position and identity as much as spend utility.

Solana branding, KAST ecosystem, premium positioning. The identity package matters. The annual fee at this tier pushes Cost Efficiency to 2.9, and the card shares nearly identical utility and trust scores with KAST X. So the premium you are paying is for the Solana alignment and the metal, not for a fundamentally different product.

What Is the KAST Solana Gold Card?

The KAST Solana Gold Card is the Luxe tier 24K gold plated Visa Infinite prepaid card offering 3% USD cashback on the first $50,000 of monthly card spend (max $1,500/mo) plus 2% KAST Points on all eligible card spend (uncapped). KAST replaced its previous 8% Season 5 points + 4% $MOVE cashback program with USD cashback in May 2026. SOL staking pays 0.5 KAST Points per 1 SOL per Solana epoch (~2 days), the same rate as Premium and no longer a Luxe-exclusive 1x advantage. VIP Concierge with priority access to the KAST senior team and VIP event invitations. KAST renamed Luxe to Private in May 2026; we use Luxe for consistency. Card issuer: Third National.

Also available as the Solana Solid Gold variant: a 37g solid gold construction available by invitation only. Solid Gold uses the same 3% USD cashback + 2% KAST Points rates but on a lower $30,000/month cashback cap (max $900/mo cashback) instead of the regular Luxe $50,000 cap. The Solid Gold is the only solid-gold card on the market and is reserved for selected Luxe-tier users at KAST's discretion.

Instant virtual card issuance, Apple Pay and Google Pay support, USDC, USDT, and USDe stablecoin spending. $10,000/year annual fee, 0.5-1.75% FX fee on non-USD transactions, $3 flat plus 2% ATM fee, 2-minute KYC via Sumsub. Membership includes 1 free Gold Plated card plus 2 free physical cards from any other tier (additional Luxe cards via Concierge). Global availability in 170+ countries via Visa.

At $10,000/year, the Solana Gold's pure-cashback break-even is around $333,000 of annual qualifying spend (3% × $333K = $10,000), i.e. near the $50,000/mo cap consistently for 6-7 months of the year. Below that level, the Luxe tier is justified less by cashback math and more by the membership benefits: VIP Concierge, VIP event access, the 24K gold card, the included free Gold Plated + 2 additional cards, the 2% KAST Points secondary stream uncapped, and the Visa Infinite Benefits Portal (purchase protection, travel insurance, discounted lounge access via Visa Airport Companion).

Solana Solid Gold

KAST Luxe tier designs captured in May 2026. Solana Gold, KAST Gold, Bitcoin Gold, and Pengu Gold share the regular Luxe economics; Solana Solid Gold is invite-only with a $30,000/month cashback cap.

Physical and Virtual Cards

  • Virtual card: Instant issuance upon signup. The Solana Gold virtual + physical count as one slot toward the 10-card maximum

  • Solana Solid Gold (invite only): 37g solid gold construction. Selected Luxe-tier users at KAST's discretion. Same 3% / 2% rates but on a lower $30,000/month cashback cap
  • Additional Luxe cards: Available via KAST Concierge, with pricing shared on request rather than published
  • Design: Premium 24K gold finish with Solana branding, KAST Luxe tier

Payment Network

  • Network: Visa Infinite (V2 cards)
  • Acceptance: 150M+ merchant locations in 170+ countries
  • Contactless: Yes (NFC)
  • Mobile wallets: Apple Pay, Google Pay (0% additional fee)

  • Card issuer: Third National
  • Visa Infinite network benefits: Accessed through the Visa Benefits Portal (visabenefitslac.axa-assistance.us). For many protections to apply, the entire cost of the item or trip must be charged to your KAST Visa Infinite card. Benefits have terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions, and are managed entirely outside the KAST app

Security and Service Features

  • Prepaid model: Maximum loss limited to loaded balance (no overdraft, no credit risk)
  • VIP Concierge: Priority direct access to the KAST senior team. Distinct from standard 24/7 support. VIP Concierge is exclusive to the Luxe tier

Transaction fees are identical across all KAST tiers. The $10,000/year fee buys (a) a higher cashback rate (3% vs 2% Premium and 1.5% Standard), (b) a much larger monthly cap ($50,000 vs $10,000 Premium and $2,000 Standard), (c) a 2% KAST Points uncapped stream (vs 1% Premium and 0% Standard), (d) VIP Concierge with priority access to the KAST senior team and VIP event invitations (Premium has 24/7 support but no VIP tier), (e) a 24K gold plated Visa Infinite card, and (f) 1 free Gold Plated card plus 2 free physical cards from any other tier. SOL staking is 0.5 KAST Points per 1 SOL per Solana epoch, the same rate as Premium, not a Luxe-exclusive multiplier as it was under the previous program.

Rewards on This Tier

The Solana Gold earns 3% USD cashback as the primary reward and 2% KAST Points as an uncapped secondary stream, the highest rates in KAST's active lineup.

RewardRateCap
USD cashback (Gold Plated)3%First $50,000/mo of card spend (max $1,500/mo, $18,000/yr)
USD cashback (Solana Solid Gold, invite)3%First $30,000/mo of card spend (max $900/mo, $10,800/yr)
KAST Points (card spend)2%None
KAST Points (SOL staking)0.5 KAST Points per 1 SOL per Solana epoch (~2 days)None (same rate as Premium)

USD cashback redemption: Cashback accrues at the moment a transaction is authorized, sits locked for 14 days in your Rewards Balance, and then must be manually redeemed via "tap Redeem" in the KAST app. Redeemed cashback moves to a spendable sub-balance and is automatically applied to your next card purchase. It cannot be withdrawn to fiat or to an external wallet. Refunds or chargebacks on cashback-earning transactions can claw back the related cashback.

KAST Points: Earned uncapped on all eligible card spend at 2%. KAST has not published a token conversion ratio for KAST Points post-May-2026. Treat them as platform loyalty rather than a guaranteed future token.

Note on the Solana Solid Gold cap: The invite-only 37g solid gold variant uses the same 3% / 2% rates but is capped at $30,000/month of qualifying cashback spend rather than the regular Luxe $50,000. KAST has not publicly explained the lower cap; the Solid Gold's value is built around the physical card itself rather than maximum cashback throughput.

Break-Even Math

At $10,000/year, the Solana Gold needs sustained high spend to recover its fee through cashback alone.

Cashback Break-Even (Gold Plated, $50K/mo cap)

3% USD cashback caps at $50,000/mo of qualifying spend, so the maximum annual cashback is 3% × $50,000 × 12 = $18,000/year. To cover the $10,000 fee from cashback alone:

Required Annual CashbackRequired Annual Spend at 3%
$10,000$333,333 (~$27,778/mo)

At ~$27,778/mo or higher (within the $50K/mo cap), you are net positive on cashback alone. Below that, the cashback covers part of the fee and the gap has to be made up by KAST Points (2% uncapped, meaningful at high volume), VIP Concierge / VIP events used, the included free Gold Plated card and 2 free additional cards, or the Visa Infinite Benefits Portal coverage.

Annual ROI by Spending Level (USD Domestic, Gold Plated)

Monthly SpendCashback (3%, capped at $50K/mo)KAST Points (2%, uncapped)Annual FeeNet Cashback Only

$75,000$18,000 (capped)18,000 KAST Points-$10,000+$8,000

KAST Points sit on top of these numbers and have no priced floor. At $50,000/mo of card spend, the 12,000 KAST Points earned annually are an uncapped layer on top of the $18,000 cashback ceiling.

Luxe vs Premium: Is the $9,000 Premium Worth It?

ConciergeVIP Concierge + VIP events24/7 Support
Card material24K gold platedPremium metal
Free physical cards included1 Gold Plated + 2 from any tier1 X Card + 1 Standard physical

The $9,000 premium over the X Card buys: 5x larger cashback cap, 2x cashback rate above Premium's $10K/mo cap, doubled KAST Points rate, VIP Concierge / VIP events, the gold card itself, and 2 additional free physical cards. SOL staking is the same on both tiers. Luxe lost its 1x-only multiplier in May 2026.

To justify the upgrade on extra cashback alone (above what the X Card would earn at its $10K cap):

Monthly SpendExtra Annual Cashback (Luxe vs Premium)Covers $9,000 Fee Premium?
$10,000$3,600 - $2,400 = $1,200No (-$7,800)
$20,000$7,200 - $2,400 = $4,800No (-$4,200)
$30,000$10,800 - $2,400 = $8,400No (-$600)
$40,000$14,400 - $2,400 = $12,000Yes (+$3,000)
$50,000 (cap)$18,000 - $2,400 = $15,600Yes (+$6,600)

Around $30,000-$32,000/mo of qualifying spend, Luxe overtakes Premium on pure cashback. Below that level, the Luxe upgrade has to be justified by KAST Points (2% × any spend above the X Card's $10K cap), VIP Concierge value, VIP event access, the free additional cards, or the 24K gold card itself.

FX Impact on Luxe Economics (Non-USD Spenders)

KAST publishes the official Luxe net effect after FX:

FX RangeCashback + Points GrossFX Cost RangeNet Effective Rate
0.5% (low)5% (3% + 2% Points)0.5%+4.5%
1.75% (high)5% (3% + 2% Points)1.75%+3.25%

Luxe stays comfortably net positive across the FX range, unlike Standard, which can flip negative at the worst case. For non-USD heavy spenders, the FX drag is meaningful in absolute dollars but does not turn the tier upside-down on per-transaction economics.

How This Tier Compares

Within KAST:

  • X Card: 2% USD cashback on first $10,000/mo, 1% KAST Points, $1,000/year. Better value below $30,000/mo of card spend. Premium does not include VIP Concierge, the gold card, or the 2 free additional cards.
  • K Card: Free, 1.5% USD cashback on first $2,000/mo. Best for ecosystem testing or low spend at zero cost.
  • Pengu Gold Card: Same 3% USD cashback + 2% KAST Points and $10,000/year as the Solana Gold, with Pudgy Penguins branding instead of Solana branding. Identical economics, different card art. Choose based on the design you prefer.
  • Founders Edition: Closed for new purchases as of May 2026. Existing holders retain their card.

Against external premium cards:

  • Crypto.com Obsidian: 5% CRO cashback, $400,000 CRO stake (12-month lockup), unlimited Priority Pass lounge access, 0% FX. Higher headline cashback rate but paid in CRO token (not USD), and the $400,000 staked-capital opportunity cost is much higher than KAST's $10,000 annual fee.
  • Bybit: Up to 10% cashback (region-dependent), volume-dependent. Higher potential rate, no annual fee, but requires sustained heavy trading volume on Bybit's spot/derivatives platform to qualify for top tiers.

Solana Gold's place in the market: A Luxe-tier 24K gold plated Visa Infinite at $10,000/year that earns the highest USD cashback rate in KAST's lineup (3%) with a 5x larger cap than Premium ($50,000/mo vs $10,000/mo). The 2% KAST Points stream on all card spend uncapped is the structural advantage at very high volume. SOL staking is no longer a Luxe-exclusive perk. It now matches Premium at 0.5 KAST Points per 1 SOL per epoch.

Real User Scenarios

Scenario 1: Chen (Hong Kong Crypto Fund Manager, $20,000/month, 40% HKD / 60% international)

ItemAmount
Monthly spend$20,000
Duration12 months
Total spend$240,000
USD cashback (3% × $20,000/mo, within $50K cap)$600/mo, $7,200/yr
KAST Points (2%)4,800 KAST Points/yr
FX cost (est. 1% avg on all non-USD)-$2,400
Annual fee-$10,000
Net guaranteed (cashback - FX - fee)-$5,200

Chen's non-USD spending creates a $2,400 FX drag. His cashback of $7,200 minus $2,400 FX minus $10,000 fee leaves -$5,200 on hard cashback math. The 4,800 KAST Points sit on top with no published value, and he uses VIP Concierge for early access to KAST features and product previews. The Visa Infinite Benefits Portal is useful for his international travel (auto rental damage waiver, travel accident insurance). At his spend level, Luxe is not justified by cashback alone. It makes sense if he values the VIP Concierge, KAST Points exposure at the higher 2% rate, and Visa Infinite benefits combined.

Scenario 2: Elena (Zurich Private Banker, CHF 12,000/month, 50% CHF / 50% international)

ItemAmount
Monthly spendCHF 12,000 (approx. $13,700)
Duration12 months
Total spendapprox. $164,400
USD cashback (3%, within cap)~$411/mo, ~$4,932/yr
KAST Points (2%)~3,288 KAST Points/yr
FX cost (est. 1.25% avg)-$2,055
Annual fee-$10,000
Net guaranteed (cashback - FX - fee)-$7,123

Elena faces steep FX costs in Switzerland. Her guaranteed loss on cashback math is $7,123/year. She compared Crypto.com Obsidian ($400,000 CRO stake, 5% guaranteed cashback, 0% FX). Obsidian would earn her approximately $8,220/year guaranteed on the same spending without the annual fee. She chose KAST because $10,000/year is a fraction of a $400,000 lockup and she values the VIP Concierge for personal banking-style support, but acknowledges Obsidian is the cheaper-capital choice on guaranteed cashback economics.

Scenario 3: Victor (Dubai Entrepreneur, $40,000/month, 50% AED / 50% international)

ItemAmount
Monthly spend$40,000
Duration12 months
Total spend$480,000
USD cashback (3% × $40,000/mo, within $50K cap)$1,200/mo, $14,400/yr
KAST Points (2%)9,600 KAST Points/yr
FX cost (est. 1.25% avg)-$6,000
Annual fee-$10,000
Net guaranteed (cashback - FX - fee)-$1,600

Victor is the high-volume international case where Luxe starts to make cashback sense. At $40,000/mo, his annual cashback ($14,400) almost covers the FX cost ($6,000) and the annual fee ($10,000) combined. KAST Points at 9,600/year are a substantial uncapped bonus. At $50,000/mo within the cap, his cashback would hit $18,000 and turn the math net positive even before counting Points. Below $40,000/mo, the X Card or 0% FX alternatives (ether.fi, Bleap) outperform on cashback alone. Luxe is justified at his level by the combination of cashback + KAST Points + VIP Concierge + Visa Infinite benefits.

Is the KAST Solana Gold Card Safe?

Same risk profile as other KAST cards with the highest annual financial exposure:

Your $10,000 annual fee:

  • Non-refundable for the remaining term. KAST does not offer prorated refunds for unused months. Auto-renew can be enabled or opted out 30 days before expiry; failed renewals trigger a 7-day grace period before reverting to Standard
  • At $10,000/year, this is the highest recurring financial exposure of any KAST card
  • Mitigation: Evaluate KAST's viability before each annual renewal

Your loaded card balance:

  • Held by Third National (regulated US banking partner)
  • In a KAST platform failure, recovery depends on Third National's protections

Your earned USD cashback:

  • Sits in your KAST Rewards Balance, locked for 14 days after each transaction
  • Once redeemed, moves to a spendable sub-balance and is automatically applied to your next card purchase
  • Cannot be withdrawn to fiat or to an external wallet. If KAST goes offline or restricts your account, accumulated cashback may be inaccessible
  • Refunds or chargebacks on cashback-earning transactions can claw back the related cashback

Your KAST Points:

  • Earned at 2% on card spend uncapped, plus 0.5 KAST Points per 1 SOL per Solana epoch on staked SOL
  • KAST has not published a token conversion ratio or TGE timeline post-May-2026
  • Treat KAST Points as platform loyalty rather than a guaranteed future token

Visa Infinite network benefits:

  • Managed entirely outside the KAST app via the Visa Benefits Portal
  • For many protections to apply, the entire cost of the item must be charged to your KAST Visa Infinite card
  • Lounge access is via Visa Airport Companion at a discounted rate, not unlimited free access
  • All benefits have terms, conditions, and exclusions

Solana Solid Gold (invite only):

  • Same custody and reward risks as the regular Gold Plated card, on a lower $30,000/mo cashback cap
  • The 37g solid gold construction is the differentiator, not the rewards economics

Who Should Choose This Tier

Use the KAST Solana Gold Card if:

  • You spend $30,000+/month and want maximum USD cashback (3%) on a $50,000/mo cap with KAST Points layered on top at 2% uncapped
  • You value VIP Concierge, VIP event invitations, and direct priority access to the KAST senior team
  • You travel frequently and use Visa Infinite Benefits Portal coverage (purchase protection, travel insurance, discounted lounges)
  • You spend primarily in USD where the 0% card spend fee minimizes net drag
  • You want a 24K gold plated Visa Infinite card and 1 free Gold Plated + 2 free physical cards from any other tier

Skip the KAST Solana Gold Card if:

  • You spend under $30,000/month: the X Card ($1,000/year, 2% USD cashback on $10,000/mo cap + 1% KAST Points) is dramatically more efficient
  • You want guaranteed returns paid as withdrawable USDC: ether.fi Luxe (3% USDC, $0 annual, 0% FX in supported countries) is structurally cheaper
  • You spend heavily in non-USD currencies and your FX averages above 1.25%: the FX drag is meaningful in absolute dollars at Luxe spending volumes
  • You prefer not to lock up $10,000/year in a non-refundable subscription
  • You prefer the Pudgy Penguins design: the Pengu Gold Card has identical economics with Pengu branding

Our view: After the May 2026 restructure, the Solana Gold is a Luxe-tier USD cashback card with a $50,000/mo cap, a 2% KAST Points secondary stream, and Visa Infinite network benefits. At $30,000+/mo of spend, it starts beating the X Card on pure cashback math; at $40,000+/mo it gets close to fee-neutral on cashback alone before counting KAST Points. Below those thresholds, the upgrade is justified by VIP Concierge access, VIP events, the Visa Infinite Benefits Portal, the gold card itself, and the 2 free additional cards. SOL staking parity with Premium (0.5 KAST Points per 1 SOL per epoch) means staking is no longer a Luxe differentiator. The invite-only Solana Solid Gold variant is a 37g solid gold collector card with the same rates on a lower $30,000/mo cap.
