SpendNode Rating for Pulsar Free Card

3.7/5
Best for: stablecoin users who want a free Visa with USD and EUR spending balances

Pulsar Free is a no-subscription virtual Visa Platinum with 1:1 stablecoin funding, Apple Pay and Google Pay, 0.5% points on the first $500 of monthly spend, and 1% cross-currency FX.

No fixed card fee, matching USD and EUR funding routes, 76-country access, and a completed SpendNode purchase support basic utility. Rewards are weak: the first $500 earns at most $2.50 a month before the rate falls to 0.25%, and points require a manual purchase-refund claim with less favorable value for larger refunds. Hybrid custody, a 1% cross-currency fee, and the short operating record further limit the score.

Pulsar Free Card Overview

Free Virtual Visa With Tiered Pulsar Points and 1:1 Stablecoin Funding

The Pulsar Free Card is a practical no-subscription Visa for users who fund in USDT, USDC, or EURC and want Apple Pay or Google Pay access. Its ordinary reward is modest rather than headline-heavy: 0.5% on the first $500 of monthly eligible spend and 0.25% thereafter. The account is strongest for same-currency spending because Pulsar charges no FX fee when the card spends from a matching USD or EUR balance; cross-currency purchases cost 1%. Rewards require a separate claim against an eligible transaction, so the best value comes from redeeming points for a 25% or 50% USDC refund.

✓No monthly, annual, or virtual-card issuance fee
✓0.5% equivalent in Pulsar Points on the first $500 of monthly eligible spending
✓USD and EUR balances can be funded 1:1 with supported stablecoins without a Pulsar funding fee
✓Apple Pay and Google Pay support

The card spends from an available USD or EUR balance. Fund USD with supported USDT or USDC, or fund EUR with EURC. Pulsar charges no funding fee for those matching stablecoin routes.

How Spending Works

Consider a EUR 100 purchase funded from a EUR balance loaded with EURC:

  1. EURC funds the available EUR balance at 1:1 without a Pulsar funding fee.
  2. Visa authorizes the EUR 100 purchase against that balance.
  3. Because the purchase and spending balance use the same currency, Pulsar applies no FX fee.
  4. Inside the first $500-equivalent monthly band, the purchase earns points worth about $0.50 at the best redemption rate.
  5. After settlement, the user can apply points to an eligible purchase and receive the selected refund in USDC.

If the same card uses a USD balance for a EUR purchase, Pulsar lists a 1% cross-currency FX fee. The card-network rate and provider execution can also affect the final debit.

Rewards and Cashback

Free's ordinary monthly earning bands are:

Portion of eligible monthly spendPoints per $10Equivalent rate
First $50050.5%
Further eligible spend2.50.25%

The app markets "up to 1% back" for Free because quests and promotions can add points. The standing purchase schedule should be used for normal spending calculations.

The base schedule is below the headline ceiling. Free pays 0.5% on the first band and 0.25% after it; promotional quests can add separate points.

How Points Become a USDC Refund

Pulsar Points do not reduce a purchase at authorization. After an eligible purchase settles, choose the transaction and select a refund level.

Refund levelCost per $1 of refund
25%100 points
50%100 points
75%112 points
100%125 points

Using points for a 25% or 50% refund keeps the strongest conversion rate. A full refund spends 25% more points per dollar than the first two options.

Claims generally require a completed purchase between $0.50 and $200 that is less than 30 days old. The transaction cannot already be refunded or claimed. ATM activity, transfers, swaps, peer-to-peer payments, cancellations, and declines are excluded.

Same-currency card purchase0% Pulsar FX
Cross-currency card purchase1% Pulsar FX

"Gas-free" refers to sponsored blockchain execution. It does not remove the 1.25% swap fee.

SpendNode app screenshot

The fee page separates funding, swaps, and FX. This matters because a free card transaction can still involve a cross-currency fee or an earlier swap cost.

Funding Networks and Assets

Pulsar supports stablecoin deposits across supported EVM networks, Solana, and TRON. USDT on TRON is explicitly supported. The available network must be selected inside the app before sending.

Use these funding routes:

  • USDT to the available USD balance.
  • USDC to the available USD balance.
  • EURC to the available EUR balance.

Direct ETH funding and card spending are not supported. Do not send an asset or use a chain that the deposit screen does not show for that balance.

Limits and Restrictions

SpendNode's Malaysian account displayed a daily-limit control with a maximum setting of EUR 30,000. Pulsar's help material also refers to a $30,000 card limit. The currency and practical amount can differ by account.

Merchant controls, provider rules, compliance review, available balance, and offline or delayed settlement can all restrict a purchase below the displayed ceiling.

Countries and Availability

The Free Card uses Pulsar's published list of 76 eligible countries and territories. The United States is included. So are the United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, major EU markets, selected Latin American countries, and five African countries.

The country list covers card application eligibility, not ACH or SEPA account details. Those services have separate coverage. Singapore, for example, appears on the ACH list but not the card list.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

Both mobile wallets are officially supported. SpendNode's issued card exposed an Add to Wallet button for Apple Pay. Device region, provider checks, and local wallet availability still apply.

The card is virtual-only in the reviewed account. Mobile-wallet support therefore matters for in-person payments; without a supported phone wallet, the card is primarily an online-payment product.

Is the Pulsar Free Card Safe?

Pulsar combines different balance types behind one interface. User-linked wallet assets and a provider-controlled card balance do not have identical custody or legal treatment. The applicable Feature Schedule should identify the owner, controlling party, debit rights, provider, asset, and exit route before activation.

For card use, keep a limited spending float, use passkeys or a unique password, retain biometrics, and verify the deposit network. Stablecoin balances are not insured bank deposits.

Is the Pulsar Free Card a Scam?

SpendNode found no evidence that the Pulsar Free Card is a scam. Pulsar identifies the operating company, shows the applicable Wirex terms before verification, and issued a working Visa that SpendNode used for a successful purchase. Those checks do not remove startup, provider, stablecoin, or smart-account risk. Use the official app download and verify the asset and network before funding.

Real User Scenarios

$400 Monthly Same-Currency Spend

The full $400 remains inside the 0.5% band, producing points worth about $2 at the best refund conversion. There is no plan fee and no Pulsar FX fee when the spending currency matches the balance.

$1,000 Monthly Spend

The first $500 earns about $2.50 and the next $500 earns about $1.25, for approximately $3.75 in monthly reward value. That is an effective 0.375% before any quest points.

Frequent Cross-Currency Spending

A user spending $1,000 from a mismatched balance pays about $10 in Pulsar FX before considering network-rate effects. Free's normal points are not enough to offset that cost. Hold and spend from the matching USD or EUR balance where practical.

How the Pulsar Free Card Compares

Pulsar Pro raises the first reward band to 2% and selected merchants to 4%, but adds a subscription. It becomes more plausible around $548 of ordinary monthly spend on the annual plan.

Solid Card has a higher reward rate and a clearly self-custodial Safe account, but its availability and balance structure differ.

Plasma One Lite pays a higher initial reward in XPL. Pulsar Free uses claimable points and supports both USD- and EUR-linked balance routes.

Who Should Use the Pulsar Free Card?

Free fits a stablecoin user who wants a simple virtual Visa without paying for a tier, especially when recurring purchases can be matched to a USD or EUR balance. It is also the better Pulsar starting point for anyone unsure how consistently they will use the points-refund workflow.

It is less suitable for someone seeking a physical card, cash withdrawals, automatic cash rewards, or strong returns on high monthly spending.

Pulsar Free Card Verdict

The Free Card does the important work without a subscription: stablecoin funding, a working Visa Platinum, both major mobile wallets, and transparent same-currency versus cross-currency pricing.

Its normal reward is small, and redemption takes an extra step. Use Free for the account and payment utility, then treat Pulsar Points as a secondary rebate rather than the reason to move spending into the app.

Sources and Verification

Scenario values assume eligible settled purchases and the best published points-redemption rate. They exclude promotional quests, third-party charges, and changes to the program.
