KuCoin has rolled out a yield program it calls Stablecoin Yield Boost, advertising up to 7% APR on its in-house stablecoin, KCUSD. The exchange announced the feature from its official account on October 26, with a tiered structure that pays more to users who park larger stablecoin balances on the platform.
The headline number sits behind a threshold. KuCoin's post lists two tiers, both measured by a user's 30-day average daily net deposits in USDT or USDC brought in from outside the exchange.
A tiered rate that rewards size
Tier 1, for deposits between 50,000 and under 100,000 USDT equivalent, adds a 2% bonus APR for a 6% indicative total. Tier 2, for deposits of 100,000 USDT equivalent and above, adds 3% for the full 7% indicative total. KuCoin caps the reward principal at 1,000,000 KCUSD per account, and the measurement window runs for 30 consecutive days from a user's first eligible deposit.
Both tiers point to the same arithmetic: a base near 4%, with the bonus stacked on top. KuCoin's post did not spell out terms for balances below 50,000, so smaller depositors should confirm in-app whether the base applies to them or whether the boost starts only at the first tier. The word KuCoin uses throughout is "indicative," which means the quoted rate is a target rather than a locked guarantee.
The 4% floor most users will meet
For a typical retail holder, the practical rate is the roughly 4% base, not the 7% headline. Clearing Tier 1 takes 50,000 USDT in net new deposits held across the month. Tier 2 takes six figures. Those are balances most everyday cardholders do not leave sitting idle.
This is where the card angle comes in. KuCoin issues the KuCard, which spends from exchange balances. A user who funds that card from a stablecoin float now faces a choice: keep the float liquid for spending, or commit it to the 30-day window to chase the boosted APR. Stablecoins locked into the measurement period are stablecoins not available at the point of sale.
Idle balances versus card spending
For anyone already holding a large stablecoin balance on KuCoin, the boost is a low-effort return on capital that was sitting still. The tradeoff is flexibility. Net deposits are measured daily across the window, so pulling funds out to spend mid-month can drag the average below a tier and cost the bonus. Cardholders who top up and spend in the same week will find the program fits their behavior poorly.
Set against other crypto yield options, a 4% base on dollar-pegged stablecoins is competitive but not a standout, roughly in line with what large exchanges and tokenized cash products have paid this year. The 7% ceiling is the differentiator, and it is reserved for size.
KCUSD ties the yield to KuCoin itself
The reward asset is KCUSD, KuCoin's own stablecoin, and the principal cap is denominated in it. That links the payout to a single issuer that is also the custodian holding the funds. Users earning this yield carry counterparty exposure to KuCoin on both sides: the platform safeguarding the deposit and the entity standing behind the stablecoin it pays in. That is a different risk profile from holding a widely redeemable stablecoin in self-custody, and it belongs in any decision to chase the rate.
Overview
KuCoin's Stablecoin Yield Boost pays an indicative 6% APR on net USDT or USDC deposits of 50,000 and up, rising to 7% past 100,000, measured over a 30-day window and capped at 1,000,000 KCUSD per account. The two tiers imply a base near 4% for everyone else. For KuCard users, the program turns idle stablecoin floats into yield but competes directly with keeping balances free to spend, and the rewards land in KuCoin's own stablecoin, concentrating counterparty risk on a single issuer.
