SpendNode Rating for Xplace Gold Card

3.7/5
Best for: higher-end xPlace members who want more than the Silver tier

Xplace Gold is the tier where the rewards math starts carrying its own weight rather than leaning on ecosystem enthusiasm.

A stronger package than Silver: 1.5% cashback, 0.25% FX, and a 6% XP rate. At a $249 fee the value case is straightforward for a regular spender, which 3.7 on Cost Efficiency reflects. The XP rate, not the cashback, is the main reason to climb to this tier.

The Xplace Gold Card is the metal membership tier of Xplace, a non-custodial crypto credit card on Solana. For $249/year it adds 1.5% USDC cashback, 0.25% FX, 6% XP, a metal card, four annual airport lounge visits, and fast-track on top of the Kamino-backed USDC credit line.

What Is the Xplace Gold Card?

The Xplace Gold Card is the metal tier of the Xplace program: a non-custodial crypto credit card on Solana with 1.5% USDC cashback, a 0% card transaction fee, a 0.25% FX fee, 6% XP, a $200,000 monthly spending limit ($10,000 per transaction), four airport lounge visits and two fast-track passes per year, for $249/year.

Like the rest of the lineup, it is a borrow-to-spend credit line: you deposit SOL, jitoSOL, USDT, or ETH and BTC exposure (as wETH and cbBTC) into Kamino Finance, that collateral earns yield and backs a USDC credit line, and you spend it in Credit Mode (or spend deposited USDC in Cash Mode).

Gold changed dramatically from its debit era. The 1% transaction fee is gone, the annual fee dropped from $1,000 to $249, and FX fell to 0.25%. Where Gold once needed $200,000 a year just to break even on a $1,000 fee, it now returns a clean +1.5% on domestic spend and recovers its $249 fee at roughly $1,400/month. The metal card, four lounge visits, and 6% XP sit on top.

The $150 premium over Silver buys: +0.5% cashback, halved FX (0.25%), double the XP rate (6%), a 20x higher monthly limit, four lounge visits with fast-track, and the metal card. For a spender clearing roughly $1,400/month, the higher cashback alone covers most of the fee gap, and the perks come close to free.

On raw cashback, ether.fi Luxe (3%) and a fully-staked Crypto.com Jade or Wirex Elite still pay more. Gold's case is the access price and the package: it is one of the cheapest routes to a non-custodial metal card ($249, no five-figure token lock), it is Solana-native, FX is among the lowest here at 0.25%, and it stacks four lounge visits with a 6% XP rate. For a mostly-domestic spender who does not want to lock $4,000 of CRO, Gold is now genuinely competitive rather than the clear loser it was at $1,000/year.

Rewards on This Tier

Gold pays 1.5% USDC cashback plus 6% XP, double Silver's XP rate. It also earns 3% cashback on in-app hotel and flight bookings.

At $10,000/month domestic:

  • USDC cashback (1.5%): +$1,800/yr
  • Card transaction fees (0%): $0
  • Annual fee: -$249
  • Net cashback: +$1,551/yr before any FX
  • XP earned: 6% of spend toward the Q4 2026 token event

XP is the speculative layer. Xplace has announced a token generation event (TGE) for Q4 2026 with XP weighting your allocation, and published allocations earmark 5% to ecosystem partners (Seeker, Superteam, cherry.fun) and 2.5% to NFT communities and DAOs (Claynosaurz, MonkeDAO, Lucid Drakes, Solana Sensei, Dead King Society). The Terms still hedge that no token has been issued yet, so treat XP as upside that is not locked in until the event lands. Gold upgrades also carry a 20,000 XP early-bird bonus.

Is the Xplace Gold Card Safe?

Your collateral is non-custodial: it sits in Kamino Finance smart contracts on Solana rather than with Xplace, so a company failure does not hand your deposit to a receiver. The exposure that matters is the protocol, a Kamino exploit or a collateral-value drop that triggers an automatic liquidation Xplace cannot reverse.

Your $249 annual fee: Non-refundable if Xplace fails mid-year. That is your maximum guaranteed cash exposure, far below the old $1,000 Gold fee and a fraction of Platinum's $999.

Your XP: At risk until the TGE. At the 6% rate, Gold holders accumulate large XP positions; if Xplace folds before Q4 2026, that XP could be worthless.

Your metal card: A physical object that keeps working as a card while the program runs, but holds no value if the program ends.

Risk framing: Your collateral stays in your own Kamino position, so unlike a Crypto.com Jade ($4,000 of CRO locked) or a custodial exchange card, an Xplace failure does not put it in someone else's hands. The costs to weigh go beyond the $249 fee, though: Kamino liquidation and exploit risk, the variable borrow APR on drawn credit, and cashback the Terms allow Xplace to exclude or claw back.

Real User Scenarios

Scenario 1: Daniel (Berlin Solana protocol engineer, $5,000/month spending)

Setup:

  • Gold ($249/year), upgraded from Silver
  • 60% EUR, 40% other international (all non-USD)
  • Metal card primary

Results after 12 months:

  • Total spending: $60,000
  • Cashback (1.5%): +$900
  • Card transaction fees (0%): $0
  • FX fees (0.25% on all non-USD): -$150
  • Annual fee: -$249
  • XP earned (6%): 360,000 over the year
  • Net guaranteed: +$501

His verdict: "A year ago Gold lost me money in euros. With the fee at $249 and FX at 0.25%, I am now +$500 in cash even though all my spend is non-USD, plus four lounge visits and a pile of XP. The metal card was always nice; now the economics back it up."

Scenario 2: Nina (Singapore crypto fund manager, $20,000/month spending)

Setup:

  • Gold ($249/year), needs a high limit for operations
  • 90% SGD, 10% international (all non-USD)
  • High-volume business spending

Results after 12 months:

  • Total spending: $240,000
  • Cashback (1.5%): +$3,600
  • FX fees (0.25% on all non-USD): -$600
  • Annual fee: -$249
  • XP earned (6%): 1,440,000 over the year
  • Net guaranteed: +$2,751

Her verdict: "The $200,000 monthly limit handles fund operations, and at my volume Gold now clears nearly +$2,800 a year in cash, before the XP. I would not lock $400K in CRO for an Obsidian; keeping my assets in Kamino and spending against them, with this kind of net return, fits how I want to operate."

Scenario 3: Marcus (Miami NFT collector, $8,000/month spending)

Setup:

  • Gold ($249/year), chose it for the metal card and Solana status
  • 95% USD, 5% international

Results after 12 months:

  • Total spending: $96,000
  • Cashback (1.5%): +$1,440
  • FX fees (0.25% on 5%): -$12
  • Annual fee: -$249
  • XP earned (6%): 576,000 over the year
  • Net guaranteed: +$1,179

His verdict: "Gold is now a clear win for me: nearly +$1,200 in cash on mostly-domestic spend, the metal card for conferences, and 6% XP toward the token. The free cards still exist, but none of them give me a non-custodial Solana metal card that also pays this well."

Who Should Choose This Tier

Use the Xplace Gold Card if:

  • You spend roughly $1,400/month or more and want +1.5% net domestic on a metal card
  • You want the lowest FX short of Platinum (0.25%) plus four lounge visits and fast-track
  • You are farming XP at the 6% rate ahead of the Q4 2026 TGE
  • You want a non-custodial metal card without locking five figures of a volatile token

Skip the Xplace Gold Card if:

  • You want the highest raw cashback: ether.fi Luxe at 3% pays more
  • You spend too little to clear the $249 fee: Silver at $99 or free Basic fit better
  • You want unlimited lounges and concierge: that is Platinum
  • You are uncomfortable with DeFi liquidation risk on your collateral

Our view: the fee cut from $1,000 to $249, the removal of the transaction fee, and the drop to 0.25% FX transformed Gold from a card that lost money at almost any volume into a net-positive metal tier. It still will not beat ether.fi Luxe on raw rate, but as the cheapest non-custodial metal card here, with low FX, lounges, and a 6% XP rate, it now works for mostly-domestic spenders above roughly $1,400/month. Lighter spenders should sit at Silver; those who want unlimited lounges and concierge should look at Platinum.

FAQ

What does the Gold tier offer?

1.5% USDC cashback (doublable to 3% in a qualifying week) plus 6% XP, 3% on hotel and flight bookings, a $10,000 per-transaction limit, and 4 free lounge visits with 2 fast-track passes a year.

What does Gold cost?

A $249 annual fee, with a 0.25% FX fee, a 1% bank transfer fee, and a 0.7% trading fee.

How does spending work?

xPlace is a self-custodial crypto-backed credit card on Solana. You deposit collateral into Kamino Finance, keep earning yield on it, and borrow USDC against it to spend, so you do not sell your underlying crypto.

Is the Gold annual fee worth it?

It depends on spend and travel. The cashback edge over Silver is modest (1.5% versus 1%); the case for Gold is the lower FX and the lounge and fast-track perks for frequent travelers.

Last modified: May 30, 2026
Data last verified: May 30, 2026 - Methodology

You retain custody of your funds until the moment of spending. Your balance is not exposed to provider insolvency risk.

Fees shown above are the card's disclosed fees. Additional costs may apply: Visa/Mastercard network spread (typically 0.5-0.9%), crypto-to-fiat conversion spread at point of sale, and blockchain gas fees for on-chain top-ups.
