Tria vs Xplace: Key Differences
The important difference is how you fund a purchase: Tria charges a payment fee on card spending, while the xPlace cashback rates in the table apply only to collateral-backed Credit Mode. Cash Mode pays 0%.
The right choice depends on your priorities: cashback rates, regional availability, custody model, and which ecosystem you already use. Below, we break down who should choose each card. You can also check how these two cards rank on our list of best crypto cards.
Rewards Depend on the Funding Mode
Tria's card tiers are Virtual, Signature and Premium. Eligible spend earns the headline rate only up to a monthly band: $100 at 1.5%, $1,000 at 4.5%, or $2,000 at 6%. Above each band, the rate falls to 0.5% for Virtual or 1% for the paid tiers. Tria also applies a 0.5% payment fee. The first Virtual Card is free for eligible new users; Signature and Premium have annual membership prices.
xPlace Basic earns 0.5% in Credit Mode; Silver, Gold and Platinum earn 1%, 1.5% and 2%. Cash Mode pays no card cashback. Paid memberships bought before 14 September 2026 may retain their higher Credit Mode and Cash Mode rates for up to 12 months from purchase. Existing members should use the rates shown on their account when comparing returns.
xPlace caps monthly cashback at $10 on Basic, $40 on Silver, $100 on Gold and $250 on Platinum. Those are reward-dollar limits, not monthly spending limits. They also apply when a protected membership earns a higher percentage rate.
$3,000 of Eligible Domestic Purchases
For a simple month with no category boosts, FX or change in token prices, Tria Virtual produces $16 in cashback before its $15 payment fee, leaving about $1. Signature produces $65 before the same fee, or $50 before its $109 annual membership cost. Premium produces $130 before the payment fee, or $115 before its $250 annual cost. That makes Premium roughly $94 for the month after one-twelfth of its fee, assuming twelve comparable months and fully eligible purchases.
At xPlace's Credit Mode rates, $3,000 of eligible purchases pays $10 on Basic after its monthly cap; Silver pays $30 before its $99 annual fee; Gold pays $45 before its $249 fee; and Platinum pays $60 before its $999 fee. These are not net credit-card returns. xPlace charges variable borrowing interest on drawn credit, and the collateral position can be liquidated.
The comparison changes again for Cash Mode. A new xPlace member using deposited funds rather than a borrowed USDC credit line does not receive the new Credit Mode cashback rates. That makes a table of Tria debit-like spending against xPlace's advertised credit rate misleading unless it also includes the cost and risk of borrowing.
Abroad and at the Airport
Tria's card data lists 1% FX plus the 0.5% payment fee, which can reduce the value of its reward band on foreign purchases. xPlace lists FX of 1% on Basic, 0.5% on Silver, 0.25% on Gold and 0% on Platinum, with lounge access increasing by tier.
A frequent international spender can still prefer xPlace for those terms even if Tria pays more cashback on domestic spend. The decision depends on the membership fee, your foreign-currency volume, and whether Credit Mode's borrowing cost offsets the FX saving.
Tria Signature and Premium have Visa-linked travel protections rather than the same lounge ladder. Compare the specific insurance and access terms you would use, not a nominal dollar value assigned to every perk. Neither program's points should be treated as cash in the card-spend math.
Before Paying for a Tier
For a new member wanting rewards on regular domestic purchases, Tria Premium is the stronger of these two at the $3,000 example, provided the $250 annual fee and payment charge are acceptable. At the free end, xPlace Basic can pay up to $10 per month in Credit Mode under its published cap, while Tria Virtual's fee can absorb most of its reduced-rate rewards after the first $100 of spend.
For xPlace, model the borrow APR, collateral buffer and membership fee before treating cashback as profit. Check the rate and monthly reward limit on your account before paying for a tier. For Tria, compare the annual fee with the amount you actually spend inside its higher-rate band.

Our Verdict
At $3,000 of eligible domestic purchases per month, Tria Premium returns about $94 after its payment fee and one-twelfth of its annual membership price. xPlace Gold earns $45, or about $24 after one-twelfth of its annual fee and before variable borrowing interest. The xPlace reward requires Credit Mode.
xPlace still has a case for someone who wants a Solana-backed credit line, lower FX at its paid tiers, and membership travel benefits. That choice brings variable borrowing costs and collateral liquidation risk. Tria's higher domestic reward does not settle the decision for a frequent traveler.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which has better cashback, Tria or Xplace?
Tria Premium pays 6% on the first $2,000 of eligible monthly purchases and 1% thereafter, before its 0.5% payment fee and $250 annual fee. xPlace Platinum pays 2% only in Credit Mode, capped at $250 of cashback a month; Cash Mode pays no card cashback. Credit Mode also carries variable borrowing interest and collateral-liquidation risk, so compare net returns, not headline rates.
How do Tria and Xplace card fees compare?
Tria's published annual-fee range is Free - $250, with normalized card-level FX rates of 1%. Xplace's annual-fee range is Free - $999, with normalized card-level FX rates of 0% - 1%. Country- or route-specific FX, conversion, payment, ATM, subscription, and staking costs can sit outside those fields, so compare the relevant tiers above.
Is Tria or Xplace better for self-custody?
Tria is self-custodial. Xplace is self-custodial. Self-custody preserves control of the wallet keys, but card settlement and smart-contract dependencies still need to be assessed separately.
